Quick Facts About Our Program

bullet

This program was started as a U17 Team by Players and Parents that wanted something better and now 2009 will be our 4th year in existence.

In 2008 we added a U14 team to grow to a 3 team program after adding a U16 team in 2007.  We plan to add a U15 and U17 team and grow to 5 teams in 2009.  We feel that this will round out our program and allow us to grow from within.  Players can start at a young age and work their way up to SVB 18 and then on to college.

2007 saw the addition of EndZone Athletics to our program.  They brought to us the training knowledge that helped the University of Washington win the 2005 National Volleyball Championships.  In 2009, we are adding Maximum Sports Conditioning (MSC) to our training staff.  Daniel Jahn, Co-Owner of MSC and one of the best volleyball specific trainers in the area, will be setting up 2 training sessions a week for our top 4 teams during the entire season. We think this helps set us apart from other programs and will attract players that are serious about playing at the next level.  Both companies will be with us for the 2009 season and we look forward to their training and nutrition expertise for years to come.

We have always been guided by the philosophies and coaching systems of Gold Medal Squared.  This system is widely used by many of the Schools and Clubs in the Puget Sound Region, including the University of Washington.  It is our belief that employing sound principals of coaching theory will give our players the best chance of attaining their goals.

Program Philosophy, Thoughts, and Ideas

bullet

Our philosophy is to create a fun learning environment that challenges everyone to excel.  It's not about winning and losing; it's about Personal, Team, and Program success.  Every player in this program needs to have the chance to fail and then learn from their failures.  For the girls, it's about playing out of the box, being aggressive, and attacking everything put in front of them.

This is not a fluff program.  We compete at practices to earn playing time during tournaments.  The idea is simple; you earn everything you get, nothing is simply given to you.  Hard work and dedication to your team is rewarded.  We push one another to improve with every touch of the ball.  This program is not for the timid, lazy, or uninspired.

The Coaches and Players take Stats at each tournament so we can set our Personal, Team, and Program goals accordingly.  Without the numbers, how would we know what improvements need to be made and what we need to practice?  Knowledge is power and well informed Players, Parents, and Coaches can move forward together in a positive way.  We focus on the task at hand so we always understand what needs to be done.

We are a get-on-the-court-and-play club.  This doesn't mean we're an equal-playing-time club.  We believe the reason you practice is so you can apply that knowledge to the court during tournaments.  This is the only way for you to know if you're improving and it's the only way to get real game experience.  Plus it's fun and that's why we all do this in the first place.  Playing time will be decided by each coach and it's somewhat determined by the make up of the team.  If the team only has one Setter, they will play more then an Outside Hitter who shares time with 3 other players.  Playing time will be given to everyone when it is warranted and where the team can still be successful.

Our expectations are to have every player advance their skills so they can play at the next level.  For freshmen and sophomores, it's to play on their High School Varsity Team (if they aren't already).  For juniors, it's to improve their High School Varsity Team and make it to State (if they haven't already), and to start thinking about College and where they might want to play.  For seniors, it's about getting recruited to College and continuing their volleyball career.

We are one Player, one Parent, one Coach, one Team, and one Program moving forward accomplishing the same goals.  That's the way Sabotage Volleyball succeeded in our first year as a U17's team and that's the way we're going to succeed for years to come.
